In the finale of the show trio “The Little Song Contest” in ORF 1, Iceland was chosen as the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 – if it had taken place and only Austria had voted.
On Saturday evening Dadi Freyr and the group Gagnamagnid prevailed with the dry and ironic number “Think about Things” from Iceland – against Malta and the local candidate Vincent Bueno.

Iceland wins ORF’s “Little Song Contest”
Initially, the ORF jury made up of ESC old stars around Conchita, the Lisbon third Cesar Sampson and veterans like Waterloo or Petra Frey as patriots and as the third day winner after the two shows from Tuesday and Thursday Austria’s candidate Vincent Bueno was on the podium . In the final public voting, however, 48 percent of the viewers did not vote for the R’n’B-heavy, earwig-prone number from Austria, but for the Nordic nerds from Iceland. The 17-year-old Maltese-born Destiny also had to be satisfied with a stocker position with “All of My Love”.

Vincent Bueno is again in the ESC race for Austria in 2021
Even if Vincent Bueno was unable to prevail in the “small” competition moderated by the “Mr. Song Contest” Andi Knoll, the 34-year-old has the chance to find the right one next year Eurovision Song Contest to prove in the Netherlands. The ORF will send the singer back to the race in 2021 – with an as yet unknown number. “Alive”, like all songs this year, has been blocked by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the coming year after the corona-related cancellation of the musical mega competition in Rotterdam.

BBC wants here under the title “Eurovision: Come Together” and with the
Moderation by talk legend Graham Norton a mixture of
Show best-of-performances and this year’s representatives. Has in Germany

Song Contest “, in which Sven Gätjen of Austria
ESC Queen Conchita from the ORF jury role to that of the presenter
changes.

And then there is the EBU as the actual ESC mother, with whom you get in the way. Finally, the two and a half hour alternative show “Europe Shine a Light” was conceived, which among other things unites all 41 participants into a virtual choir as well as parts of their contributions. According to the organizers, there is no competition here, in order not to endanger the liability of the insurance company. The ORF will also broadcast this ESC moment on May 16.
