The 2020 summer transfer window ended in the fall and many football stars are entering their final year of contract. If they do not extend quickly, they can negotiate in January with the future club of their choice. From Leo Messi to Paul Pogba via Sergio Ramos, an overview of these players free of any contract in June 2021.

A few days ago, we offered you the list of players currently free from any contract. Now it’s time for those who will be at the end of their contract in June 2021 and are therefore starting their last year of the contract. Players who will make the news in the coming months since their clubs will try to extend them when others will try to complete their signing for next season.

We find in this list a six-fold Golden Ball, just that, in the person of Leo messi. The Argentinian wanted to leave this summer, but failed. He will be free to do so next summer, unless Barca’s future management manages to change his mind. We also find in this list another Ballon d’Or in the person of Luka Modric, who certainly lives his last season at Real, an extension not being in the pipes.

A world champion is also present in this list: Paul pogba. The Blues midfielder repeated at a press conference yesterday that he dreamed of signing for Real Madrid, while ensuring that he liked Manchester United, but had not had any discussion for the moment concerning a possible extension. Note however that MU has an option to automatically extend Pogba’s contract for an additional year.

Several Ligue 1 stars soon free

This is also the case for Thiago Silva in Chelsea and Edinson Cavani at Manchester United. The two former Parisians joined the Premier League this summer for a year, with an optional second year. If their season goes well, it is likely that the Blues as the Red Devils activate this second year of contract. Speaking of PSG, several important players are free next summer: Angel Di Maria, Juan Bernat and Julian Draxler. The first two could extend, not the German a priori.

Among the names to remember from this very rich list, there is necessarily that of the young and talented goalkeeper of Milan, Gianluigi Donnarumma, but also those of the experienced Sergio Ramos, Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, Franck Ribery, Olivier Giroud, Diego Costa or Zlatan Ibrahimovic. There is also the young Spanish defender from Manchester City, Eric Garcia, which seems promised a return to Barça.

Finally, if we have not put all the free Ligue 1 players in 2021 in this list (we will do another article separately), we have nevertheless slipped the main ones with therefore the three Parisian players mentioned above, as well as Florian Thauvin (IF), Memphis Depay (OL) or even Stephane Ruffier (AXIS).
