bamberg Theater Presents Final Performances of “The Legend of Georgia McBride”
BAMBERG – the ETA Hoffmann Theater will stage the final performances of Matthew Lopez’s “the Legend of Georgia McBride” this weekend, December 12th and 13th at 7:30 p.m.,and December 14th at 6:00 p.m.
The acclaimed production tells the story of Casey, an Elvis impersonator facing hardship in a struggling Panama City bar. When a drag show is brought in to boost business, Casey loses his job and must navigate unexpected life changes as he steps into the dazzling world of drag, transforming into the glamorous georgia McBride.
The play,directed by Sebastian Schug,follows Casey’s journey as he unexpectedly replaces a performer in the drag show,swapping his Elvis persona for high heels and makeup. Facing overdue rent and a baby on the way with girlfriend Jo, Casey’s transformation is both a desperate move and a surprising self-discovery.
“The Legend of Georgia McBride” has garnered notable praise, receiving standing ovations after each performance. Costume designer Nico Zielke‘s work has also been recognized with a nomination for the prestigious “faust” award - often referred to as the theater Oscar of the year.
