The latest figures for coronavirus in Belgium: the trend of new infections is increasing

Contaminations, hospitalizations, deaths: here are the developments relating to the coronavirus epidemic in Belgium, as of this Saturday, June 27.

Less present but far from having disappeared from circulation, the coronavirus is still rife in the world as in Belgium, while phase 4 of deconfinement is reaching out to us (it begins on July 1).

Sciensano has just delivered the figures for the evolution of the pandemic in Belgium for this Saturday. As a reminder, the organization has opted since last Monday for a new methodology in the publication of figures concerning the coronavirus. From now on, it is an average over the last 7 days, which makes it easier to see a trend in the evolution of the epidemic and also to avoid a scanty weekly report compared to the daily figures published previously.

For the figures published this Saturday, there are therefore 6 deaths, 15 hospital admissions and 92 new infections on average over the last seven days. As of yesterday, these figures were respectively 7 deaths to be deplored, 15 hospitalizations and 89 new infections, always on a smoothed average of seven days. The trend in new infections is therefore up (+ 6%), Sciensano notes.

In terms of daily deaths, we deplore one more than compared to the last epidemiological bulletin published. A total of 9,732 people have died from Covid-19 infection in Belgium in recent months.

As for contamination, there are 103 more than the day before (this figure was 99 this Friday). A total of 61,209 people have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the crisis.
