In Finland, the last monument to Lenin was dismantled: a bust created by the Estonian sculptor Matti Varika was removed from the center of the Finnish city of Kotka.
According to Yle edition, Markku Hannonen, head of the urban planning department, said that moving the monument is “a rather complicated technical operation”. According to him, the torso was lifted onto the platform of a truck using a lifting device.

Note that this statue of Lenin in 1979 was presented to the city by Tallinn, which was then part of the Soviet Union. Kotka’s sculpture was the last major monument to Lenin in Finland. However, commemorative plaques and reliefs dedicated to Lenin can still be found on the streets of Finnish cities.
We recall that in Ukraine the first monument to the Soviet leader Lenin was demolished in December 2013 in Kiev, during the Euromaidan, and this event started the “Leninfall” all over Ukraine.

After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the Russian flag was installed on this pedestal and has one of the letters that is now associated with the Russian attack on Ukraine: the Latin letter “Z”.
