The Lakers beat the Nuggets in the first match of the Western Conference

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets by 126: 114 (36:38, 34:21, 33:20, 23:35).

Lebron James added 15 points, 12 assists and six rebounds in a good game for the Lakers, in which Denver basketball players took the lead only three times.

Already after the first half, the Lakers took the lead with 70:59 and no longer gave up the lead.

At the start of the second quarter, Lakers defender Alex Karuzo made a 17: 1 break with a three-point move, playing the Nuggets without a basket for more than five minutes.

“It took a quarter for us to understand how to play,” James said. “I’m not saying we played them completely because it’s too early to say in the series.

“However, we started to feel better, we just started to get a better rhythm in defense, and we started to win in the second quarter and were able to secure that advantage at the end of the half.”

In the middle of the third quarter, the Denver unit reduced the deficit to nine points.

However, their efforts were hampered by the problems of stars Nikola Jokič, Jamal Murray and Paul Milesap with the burden of notes.

Jokich and Murray both scored 21 points for the Nuggets, but Michael Porters added “double-double” from the reserve bench – 14 points and ten rebounds.

Denver coach Mike Melon said the Nuggets did not do enough to defend.

“Even in that first quarter, we weren’t defending,” said Melon, whose team in the quarter threw out of the game better than with 63 percent accuracy. “Our attack was able to get the ball into the basket, but there was little defense.”

Melon noted that the Nuggets will have to figure out how to stop the opponent without breaking the rules, as the Lakers threw only 42.9 percent of the game in the second quarter, but entered the penalty line 24 times.

The Lakers, who have returned to the conference finals for the first time since 2010, when the team won their last NBA title, are well aware that they have a lot to do with the Nuggets, which has played in each of the first two playoff series after 1 -3 deficit.

“We haven’t done anything special,” said Davis, who already had 33 points at the end of the third quarter. “We have to win three more times.”

The series will continue on Sunday, and James says the chance to fight for a place in the NBA Finals is more important than his second place behind Milwaukee Bucks star Janis Adetokunbo in the fight for the most valuable player of the season.

James admitted to being “outraged” by receiving only 16 first-place votes against Adetokunbo in determining the 85 most valuable players.

That could be good news for the Lakers.

“It definitely wings him off as if he had to prove something,” Davis commented.
