According to Meduza, the leadership of the aggressor country still believes that the Russian army can win in Ukraine.
In the administration of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, against the backdrop of a slight advance in the Donbass, they again decided that they could “bring the war in Ukraine to victory” in a few months. Including – capture Kyiv.
Writes about it “Jellyfish“, citing two sources close to the Kremlin and one interlocutor directly in the Russian Presidential Administration.
As reported, the “minimum program for declaring victory” in the Kremlin is the occupation of Donbass, and the “maximum program” is the capture of Kyiv. Interlocutors of journalists in the Kremlin said that the leadership of the Russian Federation did not abandon the idea of capturing the capital of Ukraine.
“We don’t care them [украинцев] let’s finish. Most likely, everything will be over by autumn,” one of Meduza’s sources said.
Similar sentiments, the newspaper writes, are observed not only in the Kremlin, but also in the leadership of United Russia. Party representatives regularly visit the occupied territories of Ukraine. The position of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on this issue is not yet known, writes the media.
To achieve the goal of capturing Kyiv, the Kremlin can send conscripts en masse.
“So far, mostly contract soldiers are fighting. They are enough for a relatively slow advance [по Украине]. But if you need to move faster, you can use conscripts. It’s still an army,” a source in the Kremlin said, adding that there would be no general mobilization in the Russian Federation. The Kremlin is afraid to take such a step because of the risks of losing its rating.
At the same time, Putin doubts that the West will continue large-scale support for Ukraine, transferring weapons and finances to it.
“Sooner or later, Europe will get tired of helping – this is both money and the production of weapons that they themselves need more. Closer to autumn, it will be necessary to negotiate [с Россией] on gas and oil by the heating season,” one of Meduza’s interlocutors lists the “arguments”.
“Now it seems that little is happening at the front. That the Russian army is taking some secondary settlements. That it has some problems. But this feeling is created because the Ukrainians did not immediately surrender, as many thought. Yes, a blitzkrieg it did not work out, some miscalculations are visible. But this does not mean that it will not be possible to win,” one of Meduza’s interlocutors close to the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation formulates. Another source is convinced that the Russian Federation has more resources than Ukraine without Western support.
As UNIAN previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that Ukrainian defenders managed to defend Kyiv. According to him, this is not yet the final victory of Ukraine.
At the same time, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko did not rule out that the occupiers might try again to “capture Kyiv in two days”.
Recall, according to the city authorities, in Kyiv damaged since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion 208 residential buildings, 46 schools, 29 kindergartens and 1 orphanage. 13 administrative buildings, 2 sports facilities, 5 social facilities, 17 healthcare facilities, 10 cultural facilities, and 48 transport infrastructure facilities were also damaged.
