There are some cell phone tones that are so common that usually several people involuntarily look at their smartphone when they sound. This is especially true for the standard iPhone ringtones, some of which have been heard all over the world for a decade. This certainly includes those that the Korean a cappella ensemble MayTree imitates impressively here.

If you don’t recognize the sounds right away and want to compare them on your iPhone, you shouldn’t search for the English names shown here in the video, in German they have different names. Sometimes you have to scroll all the way down in the list when selecting the tones. There you can find another menu with older sounds under “Classic”. Here are the sound names sung in the video, each with a German translation:

  • “Opening” (German: “Auftakt”)
  • “Marimba” (German: “Marimba”, under Classic)
  • Sound when connecting the power cord (cannot be adjusted)
  • “Xylophone” (dt: “Xylophone”, under Classical)
  • “Silk” (dt: “Seidenweich”)
  • “Timba” (German: “Timba drum”, under Classical)
  • Send / receive tone in messages (not adjustable)
  • “Strum” (German: “Guitar”, under Classical)
  • “Alarm” (German: “Wecker”, under Classic)
  • “Uplift” (dt: “Inspiration”)
  • “Tritone” (German: “Dreiklang”, under advisory tones> classic)
  • Sound when locking the phone (not adjustable)

MayTree already had one in early January Similar video to classic Windows tones caused enthusiasm among many users.

If you enjoy such covers, you should take a look around the MayTree YouTube channel – the Super Mario medley or the imitation of the large film studio intros are also very worth listening to.
