The Indonesia-China Fast Train (KCIC) Jakarta-Bandung project also received the attention of the former Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs, Said Didu. He said the project was a ‘trap’ from China.
“The China-Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project trap is China’s entry point for the annexation of strategic infrastructure in Indonesia,” Said said via his personal twitter account.

1. China’s Trap
Said explained his statement about China’s trap in his post. He said that it was certain that the high-speed rail project would not be able to return the investment so that China could take advantage of this opportunity to acquire other strategic infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
“So this is clearly an unfeasible project, I see that the project is not feasible and certainly will not return the capital, it has been confirmed. So that it is estimated that if the project is not feasible and cannot pay debts then usually he (China) asks for compensation to other infrastructure,” said Said.
The acquired projects can be of various kinds, such as airports, ports, or other railway projects. According to him, that is the characteristic of China.
“Why do I call it a trap? In various Middle Eastern and African countries, China is doing the same thing, building people’s infrastructure and then acquiring other infrastructure, one African country to convert currency into yuan. Indonesia is very strategic for China,” he continued.
