The Italian MotoGP rider broke his collarbone shortly before the start of the season

Andrea Doviciozo, a rider of the World Motorcycle Rally Championship (MotoGP) team, broke his collarbone shortly before the upcoming season.

It has already been reported that the MotoGP season will start this year on July 19 in the Spanish city of Heres.

The 34-year-old rider took part in a fall last weekend in Faenza, Italy, in which he suffered a collapse, resulting in a broken collarbone.

“Andrea Doviciozo was injured after a fall in the race in Faenza,” the team said in a statement posted on Twitter.

Although the team itself did not indicate the injury suffered by the athlete, the Italian media report that the collarbone was broken and the operation was performed on Sunday.

The athlete has decided to perform the operation in order to be back on the motorcycle already in the first stage of the season.

The Italian “Ducati” team has been representing since 2013 and finished the last three seasons behind the titled Spanish Mark Marquez.

The new season calendar stipulates that at least 12 stages will take place this season, scheduled for July to November. 13 stages are planned in “Moto2” and “Moto3” classes.

The organizers of the competition also do not rule out the possibility that in the period from November 22 to December 13, four races could take place outside Europe. Possible venues include Argentina, the USA, Thailand and Malaysia. A final decision in this regard is expected by 31 July.

It is known that spectators will not be able to attend the competition in person for the time being.

Previously, the first 11 stages of the season were canceled or postponed due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

The first stage of the season was scheduled for March 8 in Qatar. There were 20 stages in the MotoGP season this year.
