The French insurance and asset management group shows a real interest in these profiles of strategic consultants. Last summer, Alexander Vollert, 4th alumni of the sector – all McKinsey alumni – joined the executive committee of the Axa group, and in particular the CEO of Axa France since spring 2021, Patrick Cohen. Just like the director of strategy and development of the Axa group since 2019, Georges Desvaux. This makes Axa Group the second largest recruiter of ex-consultants to its executive committee, after LVMH.

A young woman, a former consultant, enters the ultra-restricted circle of big bosses of the CAC 40. Christel Heydemann, two years of BCG, thus assumes her duties as CEO of Orange from 1is April 2022.

There are very few Sciences Po graduates in strategic consulting, and in particular in the MBBs. Étienne Lacourt is part of the exception that proves the rule. He received a Masters in Finance and Political Science from this Parisian research school/university in 2008, and then went on to earn a Masters in Economics/Public and International Affairs from Bocconi University in Milan in 2010.

Consultant Étienne Lacourt had two stints at McKinsey: upon completion of his studies between 2011 and 2017 where he was promoted to senior engagement manager, then between 2020 and 2022 where he reached the rank of associate partner.

Between the two, the consultant made a foray into the political sphere, as head of the “Projects” division (projects of political innovation), member of the Management Committee of the LaREM during the 2017 campaign of Emmanuel Macron, then member of the executive committee of the party after the election. There are some consultants who engaged with the candidate Macron during his first campaign, especially senior profiles, and primarily Paul Midy, CEO of the En Marche party (also ex McKinsey), but also young consultants, such as Guillaume Kasbarian (ex Monitor and PMP) or Pierre Bouillon (ex BCG).

Between 2018 and 2019, Étienne Lacourt returned to the board as a freelancer, before taking up the post of general secretary of the Paris municipal campaign for En Marche (between February and November 2019), before returning to McKinsey.
