The Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS) has already paid just over 21 million euros in compensation to those affected by the eruption of the volcano in Cumbre Vieja, on the island of La Palma, which has entered its seventh week.

According to the latest data provided by the agency, the aforementioned amount corresponds to 113 homes, 24 cars, 9 shops and offices and 1 industry, all of them located in the municipalities of Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso and Tazacorte.

The CCS, which depends on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, has received 1,425 requests for compensation to date, 1,149 of which were homes; 155 were automobiles; 109 shops, hotels and office premises, and 12 industries.

Insurance companies have requested compensation on behalf of their affected clients in 46% of the cases; insurance intermediaries (agents or brokers) have done so 33% of the time and the insured himself, in the remaining 21%.

Likewise, it insists that there is no maximum period for submitting compensation requests, so it will process all those it receives and pay the corresponding compensation “whatever the amount to which all compensable damages as a result of the eruption may amount. volcanic “.
