The impact for Belgium, which has around 20 MediaMarkt stores, is not yet known. This reorganization will have a particular impact outside of Germany. The chains have 55,000 workers.
More details are expected on August 12.
This restructuring will cost around 180 million euros but is expected to reduce costs by 100 million euros annually.
Media Markt has particularly suffered from confinement in our country. The chain had also not appreciated that hypermarkets such as Carrefour or Cora were able to continue to sell household appliances and electronics when the closure was imposed on them.
