The humpback moon near the red planet tonight in a phenomenon seen with the naked eye

The Arab world will be monitored in the sky of Egypt at midnight today, Saturday 8 August 2020, and what will remain of the night is the occurrence of the waning humpback moon near Mars in the phenomenon of viewing with the naked eye, which is an opportunity for photography.

It can be seen that Mars has become brighter now compared to past months and is getting brighter in the night sky, yet it is not compared to Jupiter, which is 12 times superior to it, as Jupiter ranks the fourth brightest celestial body after the sun, moon and Venus, respectively.

It is known that the Earth moves faster in its smaller orbit around the sun compared to Mars and Jupiter, so it approaches them day after day, and the brightness of the two planets coincides with that gradually as observed in the sky.

A few months from now – on October 13, 2020 – the Earth will be between the Sun and Mars, then the Red Planet will be at its best this year in a phenomenon called Convergence, and at that time it will be about 16 times brighter than it appears at dawn on Sunday.

Generally speaking, during the period from October 1 to 30, 2020, Mars will replace Jupiter as the fourth celestial body to illuminate the sky, after the sun, moon and Venus, respectively.

Thus, it can be seen that the brightness of Mars changes very quickly, because the change in the distance between Earth and Mars is large.

It is worth noting that although the moon and Mars appear close together in the dome of the sky at dawn on Sunday, they are not close to each other in space, as the moon is about 404,407 kilometers from Earth, while Mars is about 89 million kilometers.
