Limescale is a significant problem in the home, especially when it exceeds the tolerance limit. It appears in many places and can clog pipes and, in the worst case, damage household appliances. You can prevent this by regularly adjusting the water hardness. When it already occurs in your home, you can prepare a household cleaner that can deal with it easily.
Where does limestone form?
You can meet limescale both in the bathroom and in the kitchen. It’s found on the toilet, you’ll find it in the dishwasher and you’ll notice it at first sight in the kettle. Unfortunately, you can also encounter it on tiles, tiles or on a tap or faucet. Large appliances, such as dishwashers or washing machines, can be damaged by limescale and don’t work as they should.
Make a homemade cleaner
Vinegar will do you the best service in this case. It’s easy with the toilet. Just pour a quart of vinegar into it, leave it overnight, and clean the bowl with a brush in the morning. You can easily make your own cleaner from ordinary vinegar. For example, you just need to dilute the vinegar 1:1 in the kettle, turn it on, and wait. Then just rinse the kettle and there won’t even be a trace of limescale.
Also try citric acid
Another limescale fighter is lemon or citric acid. Rub the limescale with it, let it take effect and rinse it off. However, it is not recommended to practice this method too often, it can damage some surfaces. For example, with a chrome battery, this can be a problem.
If you are concerned, you can also try toothpaste – you can also clean smaller areas covered in limescale with it. Plus, you can reach corners and hard-to-reach places.
You regularly get rid of limescale
You will reduce scale build-up if you remove it regularly. Check if it has been created and try to remove it immediately. Don’t leave water in the kettle or it will brew faster. Regularly dry the surface where the water collects. This will at least slow down its creation.
