The history of the Mi Tazita de Celaque Industry

Founded in 2006, Industria Mi Tazita is a family business located in Corquín-Copán, led by Mrs. Irma Angélica Landaverde, who is dedicated to the production and commercialization of differentiated coffee, currently having UTZ, Rainforest Alliance certifications. , Fairtrade and FDA, as well as the geographical indication Honduras Western Coffee HWC.

Part of the coffee they produce is exported to the United States, another part is sold in the national market and another part is sold already roasted to the consumer in their own cafeteria.

Over the years this company has been innovating and developing a wide range of edible and cosmetic coffee by-products, high quality and with a unique value since they participate in the entire production process, among which we can mention: liquor coffee, jam, sweets and coffee sauces too. Personal care products: Shampoo, conditioner, soap, cream, scrubs, deodorant.

Doña Irma is a very proactive, enthusiastic and innovative person and she tells us that after a period of research, testing and validation, she has diversified her product offering with the formulation and recent marketing of banana flour (for use in cakes, crepes, pancakes, tortillas, cookies, baleadas, bread, tortillas, nacatamales, etc.) that have a high nutritional value.

Mi Tazita de Celaque represents a significant source of rural employment: 15 temporary employees at harvest time, 10 temporary employees for cleaning and fertilization of the farm, 4 permanent employees in the processing plant, 4 permanent employees in the cafeteria and 1 permanent employee for QA.

When joining as a beneficiary company of the Project “Accelerator of Agricultural SMEs Under Public-Private Alliances in Honduras, executed by the Foundation for Rural Business Development (Funder)”, Mrs. Irma told us the need to keep the brand with which she markets her products protected , for which he requested support to renew his trademark registration. Currently, Irma already has the renewal of her trademark registration.

For the next few years, Mi Tazita de Celaque plans to industrialize its coffee roaster, establish a cupping laboratory and distribute its coffee-derived products in the United States.
