The historian and spokesperson of Charter 77 Marie Rút Křížková died

Marie Rút Křížková was born in 1936 in Miličín, Central Bohemia. In 1968 she graduated remotely from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, majoring in Czech pedagogy, specializing in literary history. She worked as a teacher, educator, specialist at the Terezín Memorial and the Central Bohemian Gallery in Prague.

During normalization, Křížková was a forest worker and a post sorter. She wrote her experiences from that time in the work Testimony, which could not be uttered. She spoke Charter 77 from February 1983 to January 1984.

Křížková has three daughters. One of them is the actress and presenter Ester Janečková, who is an illegitimate child of the theater director and playwright Ota Ornest, the older brother of Jiří Orten.
