The highest incidence of Covid-19 is in Gulbene and Ķekava counties

The highest incidence of Covid-19 in Latvia is still in Gulbene and Ķekava counties, while in Riga, where traditionally the highest number of cases has fallen, the number of infected people has dropped below 4,000 for the first time in October, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control. (SPKC).

The two-week cumulative morbidity per 100,000 population in Latvia has now dropped to 599.5 cases per 100,000 population. In Gulbene region, this level is exceeded more than twice and during the past day it has increased from 1325.2 to 1355.8 cases, according to the calculations of the agency LETA.

The average morbidity rate in the country is currently halved in Ķekava region, where the two-week cumulative morbidity per 100,000 population is 917.6 cases.

In total, the average morbidity rate in the country is exceeded in 14 municipalities and in addition to the two mentioned municipalities, it is also higher in Olaine, Sigulda and Cēsis municipalities, Liepāja, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Talsi, Ventspils and Salaspils municipalities, Rīga, Jelgava and Ogre municipalities.

The two-week morbidity rate per 100,000 inhabitants is a theoretical indicator that allows comparisons to be made between areas with different populations and does not indicate a specific morbidity.

Of the 1031 cases of Covid-19 infection detected in the previous day, 33% or 338 were registered in Riga. In the last 14 days, the number of cases in the capital has now dropped to 3,924, falling below 4,000 for the first time since 6 October.

In Daugavpils yesterday, 43 new patients were detected, in South Kurzeme region – 42, in Liepāja – 40, in Jelgava region – 34, in Cēsis region – 32, in Gulbene, Kuldīga and Talsi regions – 30 in each, but in a number of other municipalities a smaller number of new patients was registered. Only in Valka region no new patients have been detected.

The largest number of patients in the last two weeks is in Riga – 3924, Daugavpils – 581, Liepāja – 501, Jelgava – 396, Ogre region – 349, but in Cēsis region – 318 inhabitants.

Although the total number of infected persons registered in most local governments of Latvia has decreased during the last two weeks, in ten local governments it has increased, including the largest in South Kurzeme region – by 15 inhabitants.

Of the infections detected the previous day, 167 were between the ages of ten and 19, 167 were between the ages of 30 and 39, and 154 were between the ages of nine and nine, but there were fewer cases in other age groups.

The highest number of patients in the last two weeks is between the ages of 30 and 39 – in 2006.

It has already been reported that 1,031 cases of Covid-19 were detected in Latvia last day and 34 deaths of Covid-19 patients were registered, according to data compiled by the SPC.

The two-week cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population has decreased from 624.3 to 599.5 cases in the previous day. The last time this indicator was lower was 600 on October 3 this year, when it was 585.3.

Of the Covid-19 patients registered in the previous day, 581 or 56.35% had not been vaccinated or had not completed the vaccination course, while 450 had been vaccinated.

Of the deaths recorded last day, one was between 40 and 49 years old, one was between 50 and 59 years old, six were between 60 and 69 years old, seven were between 70 and 79 years old, and seventeen were between 80 and 89 years old. years, two between the ages of 90 and 99. The total number of deaths in the last 14 days is 338.

Of the deaths, 28 or 82% of those infected with Covid-19 had not been vaccinated or had not completed the vaccination course, and six had been vaccinated.

A total of 11,794 Covid-19 examinations were performed in Latvia last day, but the proportion of positive cases was 8.7%.

The agency LETA estimates that the total number of people with Covid-19 has fallen to 11,350 in the last two weeks, with the rest considered to be over-the-counter.

To date, Covid-19 has been laboratory approved in Latvia for 254,690 people. During the whole pandemic, 4213 people infected with Covid-19 died in Latvia.
