President Joko Widodo set a target of two weeks to Provincial Government of East Java to reduce the number of positive cases of Corona Virus (Covid-19) which is still creeping up every day.
He requested that the Corona Virus transmission rate reflected in indicators of basic reproduction (R0) and effective reproduction (Rt) decrease significantly in the next two weeks. The condition is considered better if the transmission rate is below 1.0.
“I want to see two weeks after this progress good or not, “Jokowi said at the Covid-19 Handling and Handling Command Post in the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya, East Java, Thursday (6/25).
A visit to East Java became blush first Jokowi in the Corona Virus pandemic. He highlighted East Java several times after the spread of Covid-19 in the province was increasing.
In a limited meeting related to the Acceleration of Handling of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Thursday (4/6), Jokowi said that East Java was one of the areas that needed more attention. He ordered the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, the TNI, and the National Police to focus on suppressing the spread of the corona virus in East Java, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) and South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan).
In the last few weeks, East Java has often recorded the highest daily increase in Corona cases. It was not separated from the high number of corona virus spreads in Surabaya.
The central government has intervened to assist in the handling. Mass tests were held in the province. Various assistance was also distributed to speed up the completion of the corona case there.
But the corona case in the easternmost province of Java continued to creep up. On Friday (6/26), the number of positive cases in East Java exceeded the Indonesian corona epicenter, DKI Jakarta.
That day East Java recorded 356 new cases, while DKI recorded 205 new cases. That number makes a positive case in East Java to 10,901 people, passing the Jakarta record of 10,796 people.
Until yesterday, Sunday (28/6), East Java was still the area with the most positive Corona cases in Indonesia, namely 11,508 cases out of a total of 50,010 positive cases of Corona in Indonesia in East Java.
Responding to the increasing number of cases and targets from Jokowi, East Java Provincial Government held a coordination meeting on Saturday (26/6). The meeting was attended by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini, Acting Sidoarjo Regent Nur Ahmad Syaifuddin and Gresik Regent Sambari Halim Radianto.
Khofifah said that the meeting had produced several plans to reduce the number of corona in East Java. However, he did not want to disclose the layered plan that had been formulated.

Until yesterday, the number of corona positive cases in East Java was 11,508 people. 3,720 of them recovered and 831 people died. This number is the highest at the provincial level and exceeds DKI Jakarta.
