A collection of poems by Eduards Aivars (real name Aivars Eipurs) has been published by the publishing house “Neputns” “Poetry repair“, which is the poet’s tenth collection. Its opening ceremony will be on October 8 at Akurater’s house in Pardaugava. –

The poet tells about the name “Repair of Poems” on the Latvian Radio program “Kultūras Rondo”: “This name was related to the fact that we had options to either repair the apartment or move to a new one, but it turned out that we moved to a new one. We have been there for a whole year. You will probably have to write an essay on this, because in fact it is related to some kind of guarantee, warranty repair, it could be a guarantee for unpublished works. ”

Commenting on the creation of his poems, which are characterized by long titles, but the poem itself is sometimes very short, Eduards Aivars says that the title attacks first.

He explains: “The headline immediately attacks. He attacks at the very beginning. And then on the other side, it’s like watching, reflecting on their headline, and actually being that headline. And then I like ..

Not just meditation, but silence and waiting for what will happen. ”

Commenting on the development of contemporary poetry and prose, Eduards Aivars compares it with other arts: “The same is in painting, the same is in music, it can be said about everything. It’s not just some kind of jumping on some kind of outings, for example, the narrow ends of the pants, the pants – wide. It’s just a move forward. Whether you are logged in or not. “

An artist once said that the way we can distinguish art from waste is if something called an installation is placed in a landfill and you can’t understand what art is, then it is waste. Where could a poem be placed to distinguish whether it is art? Eduards Aivars says: “I have a lesson in Jānis Akuraters’ house, a museum where students come, where we write a poem together. We have a contest for the first line. Then there are three proposals, we vote, there is the first line, then we write next. I say that almost anything can be on the first line of a poem. The difference will be what the second line of the poem will be. ”
