The head of CITUB with a nightmarish forecast

“The protests must be heard. They are a clear sign and signal that there is something that needs to be addressed urgently. People do not go out for a walk for pleasure. No one will run from that part of Bulgaria and come to the yellow cobblestones in Sofia for the pleasure of someone. And the carriers, and the employers, and the public transport in Sofia – they will all protest on the 18th together – and we are with them. They need to be heard. If urgent solutions are not found – integrated, I am not very optimistic about the future of both the country and this government. ” This was stated in the program “Drive straight” by the leader of CITUB Plamen Dimitrov.

“Coalition formulas are always very difficult. Bulgaria has had coalition governments. But each of them came out with a management program on the 30th to 40th day of their rule. We are already after the fourth – we are going to the fifth month of this administration, but we do not have a management program. Yes – the situation is unprecedented – war, crises, economic, energy health. But if we do not see for an hour what the priorities are and how they will happen for business and people, for dealing with inflation and impoverishment – I am not very optimistic about the future, “said Dimitrov.

According to him, he explains the long wait for the cabinet mostly with arrogance. “It was obvious from the first days of the new government. And then it became clear that there was no agreement on many of the key issues, regardless of the coalition agreement presented. I think that they were late in formulating key issues due to ignorance to some extent, but also due to objective circumstances that flooded Bulgaria unprecedentedly, “he added.

Plamen Dimitrov also commented on the cost of living in Bulgaria. “I am very excited about what is happening to the workers, because they are the ones who have to get the economy out of the situation we are in. The fact that more than a quarter of a million have lost their livelihoods, that is, cannot connect the two ends – that is, of working Bulgarians – in just six months – is very worrying. At the same time, many people see their personal inflation above 20 percent, and for some goods it is over 50 percent. This worries me the most. At the same time, attempts are being made to cover the needs of the most vulnerable groups with measures that are also very late. Inflation has already eaten away at the increase in the minimum wage from April 1, and the surcharges that have been made and many others that will be made from July 1. The delay in the conditions of galloping inflation is extremely dangerous and leads to the dissatisfaction of most people.

According to him, against the general background of rising inflation, experts estimate that on an annual basis between BGN 3 and 4 billion more – just because of inflation, the budget will have revenue – than planned.

“If we talk about the update from July – we believe that so much can afford on an annual basis – additional budget costs. The two billion is a small package. What the state can afford – without increasing the deficit – because of inflation and inflationary pressures that raise revenues is at least 3-4 billion as a resource. However, this includes everything – and the increase in pensions, which we want to reach 15-20 percent of the total increase from July 1. We want the government to cover at least inflation for the workers. And of course – an increase in the minimum wage, which will be at least BGN 760 from July 1. This is the minimum to start with. And of course – energy aid to business so that there can be work for people. Because during our meeting a few days ago with the Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov – we did not reach an agreement. That is why we are with the business and we will support it effectively in the protest. “
