A whole controversy has been generated in social networks after President Iván Duque, in the midst of the massacres that have occurred in recent days in the country, put a graph in which compares these acts that occurred during two years of his government with those that occurred between 2010 and 2018, during the governments of Juan Manuel Santos.
“The deaths caused by violence caused by drug trafficking and terrorism hurt us. Between 2010 and 2018, our country lived 189 collective homicides, and between 2019 and 2020, 34 events of this nature. We will continue to fight the FARC, ELN, Clan del Golfo, cartels and others, “said Duque in his trill.

The publication generated all kinds of criticism. They questioned the fact that it is trying to confuse people by comparing a period of 8 years with one of two, added to the fact that this statistic is not relevant amid the pain and concern of the families of the victims.
Pdte. @IvanDuque,
This is a very unfortunate pronouncement because it confuses the public (when comparing 8 years with a year and a half) and ignores the increasing trend in the number of massacres since 2018.
The challenge is to redouble our efforts to face this crisis, not to make up for it. https://t.co/gF1EOCykIK

Mr. president @IvanDuque please correct this graph. You are comparing 8 years of your predecessor with 2 years of your tenure.
The comparison made in this way is, to put it kindly and respectfully to you: biased. https://t.co/vdI3nvfuDT

Just this Saturday, Duque was in Llano Verde, in Cali, and in Chachagui Nariño, to listen to the families of the victims of these homicides and to carry out security advice.
“They are not alone, here we are as a Government, to reject violence and we have told them with the team of authorities that we will be delivering results quickly to clarify these facts and that justice is done.”
The main message that Duque gave to the families of the victims was that the crimes will not remain in impunity and that General Óscar Atehortúa himself, director of the National Police, is at the forefront of this investigation on which he hopes there will be results soon .
The president explained that behind these acts is organized crime and illegal armed groups “product of the expansion of drug trafficking.”
“Soon we will be delivering results in investigative matters. In Arauca, Cauca and Nariño there are groups belonging to dissidents and mafias, who want to intimidate Colombia and we will not stop confronting them, ”said Duque.
