The governor of Tyrol wants relief for real estate loans

Ahead of the state governors’ conference in Vienna on Friday, Tyrol Governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP) insisted on facilitating the granting of home loans. A new requirement states that at least 20 percent of one’s own funds can be brought in and a maximum of 40 percent of family income can be used for repayment. Mattle criticized in the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” (Thursday edition) that this especially posed problems for young people.

“The pressure on the financial market supervisory authority must be increased, because I want Tyrol to be a landlord country, not dependent on rent,” said Mattle. As already decided by the state finance conference, he wants grants and loans under housing subsidies to be recognized as own funds. More recently, he also brought the state’s “stock replacement loan” into play.
