The government’s silence on the performance of the “central” governor is collusion

The Strong Lebanon bloc held its periodic meeting chaired by Representative Gebran Bassil, discussed its agenda, studied a number of law proposals, and issued the following statement:

1- The bloc confirms that the absolute priority of the House of Representatives lies in electing a President of the Republic, and this is what the legislator meant when he spoke of the ruling session of the House until the election of the President. This is completely operative in Article 62 of the Constitution, which entrusted the powers of the Presidency of the Republic to a proxy of the Council of Ministers in the event that the presidency is vacant, so that there is exceptionalism and unanimity in any decision that is taken by proxy on behalf of the President of the Republic, if it is a government with full powers. Consequently, any legislation in light of the presidential vacuum is a matter imposed by the utmost and exceptional necessity. Accordingly, whoever talks about the legislation of necessity must present it and justify the precedence of legislation over the election of the president in order to build on the thing that is required of it.

2 – The bloc believes that the caretaker government’s prevention of intervening in the catastrophic scene of the decomposition of the lira is the dark flip side of the contradictory circulars issued by the governor of the Central Bank, which is tantamount to a described theft of people’s money, and bleeding of depositors’ money that is increased by discretionary money transfers abroad, which is Still standing by leaps and bounds.
This silence on the part of the government on the performance of the governor of the Central Bank in robbing the savings and deposits of the Lebanese people puts them in the position of accomplice and eliminates any possibility of restoring the lost confidence in the banking sector. The Central Bank’s contradictory circulars also put the commercial bank in front of depositors in robbing them of their money in dollars, starting with, and recently in Lebanese pounds.

3- The government’s failure to deal with the severe financial crisis increases the suffering of the Lebanese, and threatens to deplete what is left of life in the public sector, in which employees find themselves unable to go to their jobs due to their inability even to secure transportation allowances. While the government is watching the crises, we see its president rushing to issue decisions that violate the law, such as placing first-class employees at the disposal of the prime minister.

4- The bloc stresses the need to resume the investigation into the port bombing crime. He warns of the existence of a scheme to abort the investigation and make the perpetrators unknown. And he stresses that justice is achieved exclusively by revealing who introduced the ammonium nitrate and the method of its explosion or detonation in order to bring to trial those involved and put an end to the policy of evasion from justice.
