The top world event of biathletes will take place in Vysočina for the second time. The World Championship will return there after eleven years. In 2013, the home team won one medal – the quartet of Veronika Vítková, Gabriela Soukalová, Jaroslav Soukup and Ondřej Moravec was third in the mixed relay. In a year, Markéta Davidová and Michal Krčmář should be the biggest domestic hopes.
The Biathlon World Cup was awarded to the Czech Republic by the IBU International Federation at the online congress in 2020. Nové Město na Moravě was then the only candidate. It is far from the only top sporting event that will take place in the Czech Republic next year. The hockey world championship and cyclocross world championship in Tábor are also planned.
