JAKARTA — The government has lowered electricity rates for seven groups of PT PLN (Persero) customers. However, this tariff reduction is only for three months, namely October to December 2020.

The Head of the Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services and Cooperation (KLIK) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi on the website of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources quoted on Saturday, said that the reduction in electricity rates was in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif to the President Director of PLN through Letter No. 291/23 / MEM .L / 2020 related to reduction of adjustment rates for low voltage class customers starting October 1, 2020.
The seven groups of customers who experienced the reduction in electricity rates are:
– R-1 TR 1,300 VA (1,300 VA power household)
– R-1 TR 2,200 VA (power household 2,200 VA)
– R-2 TR 3,500 VA -5.500 VA (3.500-5,500 VA power household)
– R-3 TR 6,600 VA (6,600 VA power household)
– B-2 TR 6,600 VA – 200 kVA (bisnis daya 6,600-200,000 VA)
– P-1 TR 6.600 VA sd 200 kVA (pemerintah daya 6.600-200.000 VA)
– P-3 / TR (government)
The electricity tariff for the seven groups of low-voltage customers has decreased from the previous Rp1,467 / kWh to Rp1,444.7 / kWh or decreased by Rp.22.5 / kWh over the next three months.
Agung Pribadi added that apart from considering the economic conditions of the people affected by Covid-19, the government’s decision to reduce electricity rates was also a form of the state’s presence in providing facilities and solutions for electricity customers.
“This reduction in electricity rates is to ease the burden on our brothers most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and at the same time to be able to further push the wheels of the national economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, PLN Executive Vice President Communication and CSR Agung Murdifi, through his written statement, stated that with this reduction in electricity rates, the government and PLN would like to provide lenient economic burden for low-voltage class customers.
“With this, it is hoped that the community can use more electricity to support their economic activities and their daily activities,” he said.
He added that the reduction in electricity rates for this low voltage group did not include any conditions. “Please enjoy this rate reduction and use PLN electricity comfortably and of course safely,” said Agung Murdifi.
Previously, the government had provided a stimulus for household customers with 450 VA power by giving a discount rate of 100 percent, aka free and subsidized 900 VA household customers who received a 50 percent discount since April 2020.
In addition, relief is also provided for small business customers with 450 VA power and 450 VA small industry with a 100 percent discount. ***
