The government intervenes with a forced wage board in the municipal strike in Oslo

The background for the decision is that there is a danger to life and health, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs states.

The Nordre Aker district reported on Monday that 14 of the 30 nurses who were on duty in the home care service had gone on strike. An exemption was applied for, but only one was granted.

– The Norwegian Board of Health Supervision believes that a situation may arise where patients will not receive the necessary health care such as administration of insulin, intravenous treatment and other medication and care of the stoma and care of wounds. When the parties do not find a solution to such a serious situation, I have no choice but to intervene, says Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Torbjørn Røe Isaksen.

The conflict between Unio and Oslo municipality has been going on since 28 May, when 642 employees in the municipality went on strike. On June 4, another 1,272 people were taken out.

The districts of Nordre Aker, Vestre Aker, St. Hanshaugen and Alna in particular have been affected.

The strikers are mainly organized in the Education Association, but also members of the Norwegian Nurses’ Association, the Norwegian Physiotherapists’ Association, the Researchers’ Association, the Norwegian Association of Occupational Therapists, the Librarians’ Association and the Academics’ Association were taken out on strike.

The strike has affected kindergartens, schools, home care, nursing homes and other public enterprises.
