The Georgian authorities have allowed the possibility of a referendum on the opening of a “second front” against Russia

Georgia’s leadership can organize a national referendum and ask the question: do Georgians want war with Russia. This statement was released today, September 13, during a briefing in the office of the ruling Georgian Dream party by the party chairman, Giorgi Kobakhidze. “Let the people tell if they want to open a second front in Georgia against Russia,” Kobakhidze stressed. And he promised that the authorities “will act as people say”.

The politician expressed the hope that the Georgian people “will bring clarity, whether they agree with the statements of Ukrainian politicians on the need to involve Georgia in the war or with the position of the authorities of his country”.

This is how Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the statement by Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, who the day before had advised Georgia to “take concrete steps to liberate Abkhazia and South Ossetia”. Previously, the Secretary of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, as well as advisers to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak and Oleksiy Arestovich publicly addressed Tbilisi with similar “advice”. “They have all said directly that the opening of a second front in Georgia is highly desirable,” recalled the head of the Georgian Dream during the same briefing.
