The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is “only” equipped with 8GB of RAM, Samsung explains

KOMPAS.com – As a cell phone flagship latest and top of Samsung, of course Galaxy Note The 20 Ultra is equipped with the most advanced features and specifications from the manufacturer.

However, if you glance at it on paper, there is one aspect of the specification Galaxy Note 20 Ultra what seems “lost” to the previous Galaxy Note 10 Plus, namely RAM capacity.

Galaxy Note 20 The Indonesian version of Ultra is equipped with a main memory of 8 GB, smaller than the Galaxy Note 10 Plus or the Galaxy S20 Ultra which has 12 GB of RAM.

However, Samsung said that the 8GB RAM capacity is actually sufficient for daily use, whether related to productivity, such as using the Wireless Dex feature and online meetings, or entertainment such as playing games.

Samsung exemplifies popular games Fortnite which is said to only require up to 2 GB of main memory space. Likewise with other games, such as Mobile Legends or Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile.

What’s more, Samsung continued, the type of memory on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is LPDDR5 whose data transfer speed is 50 percent higher than LPDDR4x as found in the previous Galaxy Note 10 Plus.

In the written statement to KompasTekno, Friday (14/8/2020), Mobile Product Manager of Samsung Electronics Indonesia, Taufiqul Furqan also stated that LPDDR5 power usage is 30 percent more efficient than LPDDR4x.

“We’ve done testing on device 8 GB of our LPDDR5 and found that this capability is a sweet-spot for smartphone, “said Taufiqul.

For the kitchen itself, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra relies on the Exyos 990 chip, 256GB or 512GB storage media capacity, along with a 4,500 mAh capacity battery with 25 watt fast charging support.

This 208 gram mobile phone has a 6.9-inch wide Dynamic AMOLED screen (3,088 x 1,440 pixels) and a 10 MP front camera. On its back is a 108 MP main camera (f / 1.8), a 12 MP telephoto camera (f / 3.0, 5x optical zoom), and a 12 MP ultra wide camera (f / 2.2).

In Indonesia, Samsung markets the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra for IDR 17,999,000 for the 256 GB version and IDR 19,999,000 for the 512 GB version. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 20 sells for IDR 14,499,000 (8 GB / 256 GB).
