The future iPad and iPad Air could be strongly inspired by the iPad Pro

Future iPads could adopt the design of the Pro models in force since 2018. The site 91Mobiles sharing technical diagrams of what is billed as the 8th generation iPad (it could nevertheless be the iPad Air 4), which would be released in September. The tablet borrows a lot from the iPad Pro, starting with its design: the disappearance of the Touch ID button allows the borders around the screen to be the same size on all sides. The designs suggest rounded angles at the corners of the screen, which will be 10.84 inches (that’s accurate). There are also flat slices.

On the back, the Smart Connector port is invited to the party, which will, with a little luck, allow the use of a Magic Keyboard. Always at the back, takes place a photo sensor without LiDAR. The lack of Touch ID means that Apple has managed to integrate the necessary for Face ID, which these diagrams seem to confirm. There should also be two speakers and a USB-C port instead of Lightning.

Although amortized since the iPad Pro 2018, all these technologies still seem difficult to integrate into “budget” iPads such as the iPad (from 389 €), or even the iPad Air (from 569 €). But perhaps it is high time to take this range to a new level. Ming-Chi Kuo had on his side predicts 10.8-inch iPad for the second semester.

Still in the area of oddities, a Chinese leaky put online what looks like the manual in Spanish of a future (and hypothetical) iPad Air 4 incorporating the design and some of the functionalities of the iPad Pro (Smart Connector, USB-C) … but with a unique feature: it does not integrate no Face ID, but a fingerprint sensor in the start button, on the side.

This would be a first for an Apple device, although we have heard of such a component in the past, through of a patent, of a iPhone 8 rumor, or even via the essential Ming-Chi Kuo for an entry-level iPhone in 2021.
