The second farewell to Libuša Šafránková took place on Friday. The closest relatives, friends and fans came to say goodbye to the film Cinderella in the church in Šlapanice near Brno, where the star came from.

Libuše Šafránková was an amazing actress and thanks to her talent and modest and kind nature, she entered the hearts of several generations. Cinderella is undoubtedly one of the most famous roles of the actress in the film Three Nuts for Cinderella.

Šafránková withdrew from the public a few years ago, as she had lung cancer and did not return to acting after a serious illness, preferring to devote herself to her grandchildren.

The news of the star’s death hit the general public, as it came quite unexpectedly. The actress celebrated her 68th birthday and two days later the family announced a devastating news. “You probably won’t believe me, but I still don’t know what happened. It was so unexpected… I called my nephews, but he also couldn’t tell me anything. At the white urn, he laid a wreath for his wife with the same message as for the coffin on Spořilov: “I miss you so much!”

As at the Prague funeral mass, only a limited number of people were allowed to go to church in Šlapanice. Fans of Libuše Šafránková, however, could watch the broadcast on a giant screen located in front of the church.

After the Mass, those present moved through the town to the local cemetery to bury the remains of Libuška Šafránková. Some locals came to say goodbye to the star in folk costumes. In the cemetery, the band played a song from the movie Three Nuts for Cinderella. The band was once founded by the actress’ father Miroslav Šafránek.

Libuše Šafránková’s only son, Josef Abrhám Jr., was again unable to hold back tears and expressed his deep grief over the loss of his beloved mother…
