The fourth talk of the Alfalfera Conference was given

Mario Funes, from the National Institute of Agricultural Technology, compared different varieties of alfalfa that were planted in the “Don Hugo” field in Villa Mercedes. The last alfalfera day will be held on September 22 and the central theme will be “Crop care”.

The Alfalfa Days are an initiative carried out by the Ministry of Production and whose objectives are to provide knowledge tools about the benefits of producing alfalfa and show the work carried out in San Luis on this subject.

“During the fourth day alfalfera we showed the work that was recorded last week in the productive pole of the Alfazal of 600 hectares, located on the National Route No. 8 in the vicinity of Villa Mercedes, where 300 hectares are already planted with alfalfa from different varieties and maturity groups. There Mario Funes, from the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), compared the different varieties that were implanted; also the companies Cal West, Palo Verde, WL and Aiassa will present their commercial varieties ”, affirmed the head of the Agricultural Production Subprogram, Facundo Díaz, at the end of the live broadcast that took place on Wednesday and was broadcast on Facebook and YouTube of the Ministry of production.

The official also commented: “During the recordings and under all the COVID-19 prevention protocols, around 20 producers participated who were able to see the exhibition in the field and the Minister of Production, Juan Lavandeira. In addition, personnel from the Ministry of the Environment and Parks internalized the participants about the work they are carrying out in the field that is located in the Morro Basin area, which aims to mitigate the water imbalance in the area ”.

“The last day will be broadcast on September 22, starting at 6:00 p.m., and will have as a central theme the care of the crop. In it the agronomists, Jorge Garay and Daniel Izargabal, will present on weeds and pests that affect the cultivation of alfalfa. We are also going to show a foliar fertilization test that is carried out on the experimental crop in the “Don Hugo” establishment, concluded Díaz.
