The former Prostejov volleyball player Glassová has an injured eye after being attacked in LA

American former Prostejov volleyball player Kim Glass was attacked in the center of Los Angeles. A man ran up to the Olympic silver medalist from Beijing and threw an iron object in her face. According to the AP agency, the 37-year-old player and model suffered several fractures in her face and has an injured eye.

The incident happened when Glass was leaving for lunch. According to her, the man hit her in the face with a screw or a metal pipe. “He just looked at me with pretty hateful eyes. It happened so fast. He literally lunged at me from the street, he wasn’t even close,” she said in videos on instagram.

Bystanders detained the assailant until the police arrived. A 51-year-old man was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to a police spokesman.

Glass hopes her eyesight will be fine. “Just be safe out there. You shouldn’t be afraid when walking,” said the native of Los Angeles, who worked in Prostějov in the 2009/10 season. With the team, she won the extra league title, first place in the cup and played in the Champions League.
