Mourning in the world of football. Carlo Tavecchio, former president of the Football Federation and current number 1 of the Lombardy regional committee of the National Amateur League, died at the age of 79. The funeral will take place on Monday 30 January in Ponte Lambro.

The latest public release two weeks ago on the occasion of the assembly of the Lnd Lombardia, then some pulmonary problems and the sudden worsening of his conditions which led him to be admitted to a hospital in the Brianza last Wednesday for bilateral pneumonia. Tavecchio was 79 years old and was president of the Football Federation from August 2014 to November 2017, when he resigned in a rather controversial way due to the lack of qualification of Ventura’s team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He would have turned 80 in Julya few weeks ago some Serie C clubs contacted him to explore his willingness to run as president of Lega Pro.
