“The light goes out on this first edition of the Nocturne de Chartres en lumière, initially scheduled for October 10,” writes Jacky Poirier, head of the ASPTT Chartres hiking section who, with The Republican Echo dwithin the framework of the Balades du journal, organized the event, first of the name.

For the first time, the organizers of this event – which has been taking place in January for 27 years – had decided to choose the date of October 10, which marks the last evening of Chartres en lumière. “We wanted to take advantage of the lights and perhaps better weather to cross the 2,000 participants mark,” continues the organizer. On average, in January the other years, the Nocturne de Chartres attracted some 1,500 spectators.
The health context and the projection difficulties involved
But the health crisis finally got the better of the event, as the organizers explain: “The health context, the difficulties of planning and setting up a health protocol incompatible with the very nature of the event, will have had because of the usually flawless motivation of the ASPTT volunteers who do not prefer to take any risks. “

A difficult year for the association which had already had to cancel its half-marathon and the Foulées de la Cathédrale. “But the hiking section has resumed since the deconfinement and those interested can join us”, insists Jacky Poirier. A positive note in this decidedly complicated year 2020. The appointment is already set for October 2021.
