With the expansion of Elektrum’s operations outside Latvia, the first solar energy park in Lithuania has been put into operation. The 3-hectare park is located in Klaipeda district, and its capacity reaches 1.5 MW (megawatts), the company’s representatives inform.

This is Elektrum’s first green energy production project in Lithuania. So this is an important step Latvenergo expansion of the Group’s operations in neighboring countries and a significant addition to green energy production opportunities.
Solar electricity is first supplied by Latvenergo AS brand Elektrum Lithuania developed solar park in Lithuania, located on the seaside of Klaipeda district. It covers an area of 3 hectares and has an installed capacity of 1.5 MW. As the solar park is located only 13 kilometers from the coast, which is characterized by high intensity of sunlight, it is estimated that one kilowatt of the park will generate about 1,100 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year. This is the first project of its kind, but Elektrum Lietuva has other no less ambitious goals in the field of solar parks in the near future.

The solar park is intended for electricity generation for users. These can be individuals and households, as well as companies or public institutions. Among the clients of “Elektrum Lietuva” solar park are the administrations of Aukštaitija National Park, Labanora Regional Park, as well as the Curonian Spit National Park, confirming the mutual synergy of nature and energy.
The Canadian Solar equipment of the Canadian company has been installed in the solar energy park.
“We were able to choose the most cost-effective location for the solar park, and we installed it on the seaside, where the sun is the most. Even when choosing the most modern modules, the final amount of electricity produced will largely depend on the weather. Moreover, knowing that voltage converters inverters are the fastest part of the equipment, we provided it with a twenty-year warranty, which means that the park’s customers will be protected from possible additional expenses, “says Martynas Giga, Head of Elektrum Lietuva.
