The fight for the best TV console –

Initially, it looked like Microsoft was coming to market with one console. But in the end, there will be two. The state-of-the-art Xbox Series X, which is set to become the world‘s most powerful TV system, will be accompanied on the shelves by cheaper versions of the Series S.

Original design

Both new Xboxes will have a completely different design than its predecessor. The Xbox Series X is much larger and has the shape of a tower rising upwards. However, it will be possible to place the console horizontally next to the TV. Nevertheless, it will take up more space than the current generation.

The cheaper novelty will be snow white and will have a black circle on the side, which serves as ventilation holes. From a single published image, this console looks really compact, it’s about the size of two official gamepads.

The heart of the Xbox Series X console will be an eight-core AMD processor with Zen 2 architecture, which can burn up to 3.8 GHz. It will be a chip with 16 threads. An integral part of the entire chipset will also be an integrated graphics chip built on the AMD RDNA 2 architecture, which will offer a frequency of up to 1.825 GHz. In practice, the graphics should be about 20% more powerful than the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.

The Xbox offers higher performance, the PlayStation attracts exclusive games.

There are also 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, which will be divided into two parts, namely faster and slower. 10 GB will offer a throughput of 560 GB / s and the remaining 6 GB only 336 GB / s. Bottom line – the Xbox Series X offers 12 TFLOPS performance.

Potential applicants can also count on a very fast storage. Specifically, the Xbox Series X will be equipped with a 1 TB NVMe SSD. In addition, the manufacturer also dealt with interesting expandability, as the console will use a special proprietary 1TB SSD from Seagate, which will be connected using a special connector to maintain the highest possible transfer speed.

Sales will begin in November

Both news will appear on the shelves of domestic stores on November 10, pre-orders will start on September 22. As with previous generations, demand is expected to exceed supply. So whoever wants to indulge in a console under the Christmas tree, should not delay the order.

A pleasant surprise is especially the price of the flagship Xbox Series X. According to the official information of the Czech representation, potential applicants will pay CZK 13,499 for this. The cheaper version of the Xbox Series S will cost CZK 7,999.

The competing console from Sony will also be offered in two different versions, according to unofficial information, the start of sales is scheduled for Saturday, November 14. The classic PlayStation 5 will reportedly cost 499 euros (CZK 13,300). The version without an optical drive will be cheaper, potential buyers will pay 399 euros for it, ie 10 650 CZK.

It should be emphasized that Sony’s management has not yet officially confirmed console prices. And the same goes for starting a sale.

Bet on original games

The PlayStation 5 will build on a modified AMD processor with Zen 2 architecture, which will offer 8 cores and 16 worker threads. For it, the frequency will be variable, with a maximum value of 3.5 GHz.

In the case of the graphics core, the manufacturer refers to the architecture as Custom RDNA 2. However, it is important that it runs at a frequency of 2.23 GHz. The manufacturer anticipates that these components should add up to more than 10.2 TFLOPS. It counts on 16 GB of GDDR6 (256-bit) memory with a throughput of 448 GB / s.

In practice, the console should be enough to play in 4K resolution, at 60 frames per second. It is also expected to include special ray tracing cores, thanks to which the individual games will offer breathtaking graphics. A host of exclusive titles should be a highlight on PlayStation 5.
