The fifth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is now available in the Province

The Ministry of Public health communicates that the third booster of the vaccine against COVID-19 in Salta, or the fifth dose, is now available in hospitals, health centers and mobile vaccination posts.

This new application is aimed at:

Persons over the age of 50

· Over 18 years with risk factors such as: type 1 and 2 diabetes; grade 2 or 3 obesity; chronic cardiovascular disease; active tuberculosis; cirrhosis; Down syndrome; intellectual or developmental disability; chronic respiratory disease.

Pregnant people (at any stage of pregnancy)

· Healthcare personnel

· Older than 12 years with immunocompromised such as: solid and onco-haematological tumours; transplanted on immunosuppressive treatment; HIV; chronic renal failure in hemodialysis; autoimmune diseases and/or treatments; moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency and actively treated with immunosuppressive drugs.

· People who live or work in closed or long-term care institutions

We inform you that this reinforcement will be applied with a minimum interval of four months, after the last inoculation.

Figures in Salta

The Ministry of Public Health has exceeded the 2.9 million doses applied against the coronavirus.

Of the total vaccines provided by the national state, 1,196,220 first doses were inoculated, 1,034,234 of the second, 522,416 of the third, 117,133 of the fourth, 56,377 of the additional dose and 3,895 of the single application.

There are already 3,824 Salteños and Salteños, who belong to the target population, who have received the fifth dose.

The data coincide with what was published in the Public Vaccination Monitor of the National Ministry of Health, which presents a daily update in the morning hours.

The head of the provincial health portfolio, Juan José Esteban, said that “vaccines are a fundamental tool for saving lives”.

He added that several strategies have been implemented by the provincial government to reach the population as part of this immunization campaign, including those implemented in:

· Hospitals and health centers.

· Primary, secondary, tertiary and university level educational institutions.

· Gastronomic poles (Paseo Güemes and Balcarce).

AutoVac, so people can get vaccinated in their vehicle.

· Entertainment venues, such as plazas, parks, shopping malls, supermarkets, discos, stadiums, and sports fields.

· Vaccination truck.

· Tourist points, such as the San Bernardo cable car and the bus terminal.

· Visit by health workers and nurses in the home of people with reduced mobility who cannot go to hospital.

· Aerial operations in seven communities located on the coast of the Tarija River. (Madrejones, Churqui, Trementinal, Baule, Algarrobito, Medialuna and Churqui).

Esteban urged the population to participate in operational devices across the province to start or complete the program.
