danish Air Force Assists in Delivery of F-16s to Argentina
Río cuarto, Argentina - January 2, 2025 – The first six F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft have arrived in argentina, delivered as part of a important modernization effort for the Argentine Air Force. The Danish Air Force played a crucial role in the transatlantic ferry flight,providing logistical support and expertise for the transfer of the aircraft from Denmark to Argentina.
This delivery marks the initial phase of a program to acquire a total of 24 F-16s – 18 single-seat F-16AM and 6 two-seat F-16BM variants - by 2028. The acquisition is a landmark event for argentina, bolstering its air defense capabilities after a period of limited modernization. the remaining aircraft will be delivered in groups of six annually, culminating in the complete transfer by the end of 2028. The arrival at the Río Cuarto Material Area – Military Zone signifies a major step in strengthening Argentina’s national security and regional defense posture.
The transfer of the F-16s represents a significant upgrade to the Argentine Air Force’s fighter fleet, replacing aging A-4AR Fightinghawks.The Danish government agreed to the sale of the aircraft, which were previously in service wiht the Royal Danish Air Force, offering a cost-effective solution for Argentina’s modernization needs.
