The fate of your account when WhatsApp’s new privacy rules apply

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp immediately introduced a new privacy policy on its platform. It will officially take effect on May 15, 2021, after previously being extended from February 8, 2021.

At that time WhatsApp reasoned that there were many users who were confused about the policy. This includes the spread of disinformation that has caused unrest.

“Therefore, WhatsApp decided to provide an extension of time for users to review and receive this update until May 15, 2021,” WhatsApp explained in a written statement, quoted on Thursday (6/5/2021).

In its official blog, the Facebook subsidiary ensures that nothing has changed.

In that regulation, there will be new options for people who send messages on business WhatsApp. This will provide information about how the company collects and uses data.

Indeed, not all users use the service, but WhatsApp says there will likely be more people who do. For that it is important for people to know about the new service.

Launching the BGR page, the company also emphasized that it would not be able to see the location that users shared. In addition, user contacts will not be provided on Facebook.

Then what if you reject this rule? WhatsApp will give you 120 days. This time is given so that you think again about the decisions you make.

Within 120 days, the account will be in the inactive category with the function of reading DNA writing messages unusable. However, you can still use calls and notifications.

If you try to delete your account and reinstall, you still have to accept the rules. The same thing if using a new number, privacy rules must be approved first before using WhatsApp.
