JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government is currently working on several proposals stimulus to boost the automotive market. One of them is like deletion Vehicle tax (PKB) for new car.
Thus, the price of a new car will automatically be cheaper. Then whether this will have an impact on sales used car which is growing?
Responding to the stimulus plan, Herjanto Kosasih, Senior Marketing Manager of WTC Mangga Dua, said that from a sales perspective, it would not have an effect because it has its own market.

“The consumer segments are different, so there is no effect. The trend is that consumers now adjust their funds more, for example if they have Rp. 60 million, what can they buy, and of course their choice, then in the used car market, will not run to a new car,” Herjanto told Kompas.com, Tuesday (22/9/2020).
Herjanto said that the zero percent tax relief for new cars, when viewed from the current conditions, will not have a significant effect on boosting sales. This is because the main problem is not only people’s purchasing power, but also their financial capacity.
Of these two factors, current consumer trends have also changed, namely looking for a car for functionality by following the budget they have, no longer thinking about the desired model.
“So even zero percent tax, in my opinion, does not have a big effect, I want to buy it but if the ability is not available it’s useless. If you look at it, nowadays people buy the car because they really need it, besides that they also adjust the funds they have. second car, “said Herjanto.
“They need them because they are worried about taking public transportation, because that is what many cars are looking for at low prices. From the LCGC to the old years it doesn’t matter as long as they have the funds they have,” he said.

In line with Herjanto, Ridwan, a used car dealer in Klender, East Jakarta, also said the same thing. According to him, used cars are the most logical choice in the midst of the current pandemic.
Not only because the price is cheap and just use it, but by choice there are quite a lot of models that can be adjusted to the funds owned by consumers.
“For example, having Rp. 100 million in funds, consumers can choose automatic or manual LCGC. If they don’t like it, they can still look for MPVs like the old Avanza or Xenia. For new cars, because the price is set, it’s difficult to adjust their finances,” Ridwan said.
