The farmers in Haute-Loire welcome visitors on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April for an open house event.

After the success of the 2022 edition and its 10,900 visitors gathered, the De ferme en ferme operation will return on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. With the participation of 27 farms on five different circuits linking the Haute-Loire, the curious will be spoiled for choice.

Create moments of sharing

Breeders of goats, cows, horses, but also ostriches, horticulturists or manufacturers of bread, essential oils and soaps: the public will be able to discover a multitude of activities which build, locally, the diversity of a whole profession.
In terms of geography, covering a large area is a real “willingness”, for Laurence Gory, facilitator at the Haute-Loire Chamber of Agriculture.

We tried to make a very varied program, with all forms of agriculture, so that everyone could find what they were looking for.

The main objective of this meeting is to create moments of sharing during meetings between farmers and visitors. The farmers’ mission is to pass on their passion with the visit of their farm or via the activities they will offer (tastings of farm products).
At a time when agriculture is often singled out for its harmful aspects, especially ecological ones, this theme will be widely discussed during the event. “Each farm participates in sustainable agriculture and, during each visit, a panel explaining their actions in favor of the environment will be made available”, explains Coline Brat, facilitator at the Haute-Loire Chamber of Agriculture. The operators are impatiently awaiting the many visitors who will come to discover their work.

The program, which continues to expand each year, will welcome seven new farms at the end of April. This is for example the case of Gaec Chèvrerie de la Madeleine, in Retournac.

Seven new sites to visit

Installed since December with their thirty goats, Véronique Cheminet and Hugo Pluhmans wish to show their farm to the public. “The operation is the best way to make yourself known and it allows visitors to better understand our profession as well as to see the different forms of agriculture that exist”, testifies the young man.
During the weekend, many activities will be offered in addition to the traditional visits. For example, participants will be able to attend a demonstration of herding dogs, discover an exhibition of old equipment or take part in a festive evening on the farm.
