The EU in January will transfer the first tranche of the macro-financial assistance package of 18 billion euros to Ukraine

This is a tranche from the largest macro-financial assistance package that the EU has ever provided to a partner country.

Ukraine in January will receive from the EU the first tranche of the package of macro-financial assistance of 18 billion euros.

This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, informs official Telegram channel of the European Commission.

“Already in January, we will transfer the first tranche of the support package for Ukraine in the amount of 18 billion euros. This is the largest package of macro-financial assistance that the EU has ever provided to a partner country,” Ursula von der Leyen said.

18 billion euros for Ukraine from the EU

In December 2022 the European Union allocated to Ukraine macro-financial assistance for 2023 in the amount of 18 billion euros.

Earlier, European media wrote that the veto on the allocation of 18 billion euros to Ukraine was imposed by Poland and Hungary. Budapest made concessions in exchange for subsidies to Hungary. Warsaw, which opposed the 15% corporate income tax rate, also supported Ukraine.

It should be noted that according to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, EU allocates 19.7 billion euros to Ukraine in 2022 financial assistance.
