  • In the Pays-de-la-Loire region, the virus still circulates very actively but its spread slows down.
  • “These next three weeks will allow us to give ourselves the maximum chance of achieving deconfinement,” says the ARS.

“We are in what we hoped for, the containment produces its effects ”. At the regional health agency of
Pays de la Loire, the signals start to turn green even if “the virus is still very active”. While an epidemic wave was to be feared, “the levees have resisted”, welcomes Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director of the ARS.
Numbers press releases this Thursday evening confirm this: for the past few days, the epidemic
slows down again.

While 2,394 cases of coronavirus have been identified from the start, “the curve is rounding off.” “In mid-March, we had a 30% increase in cases in two days,” recalls Dr. Pierre Blaise. At the end of March, it increased to 20%, then at 10. For the past few days, we have been at 5% ”. A trend also seen in the number of people hospitalized, which rose to 799 (+5 in one day) Thursday. As for the number of patients in intensive care (136), it has even been declining for a few days. According to the regional health agency, 235 patients died in the hospital, and 872 left cured.

After May 11, “discipline and patience”

However, the game is not completely won, warn the authorities. “Maximum effort to respect containment and barrier gestures must be made until May 11, says Pierre Blaise. These next three weeks will allow to tend to the lowest possible, and to give yourself a maximum chance of success in deconfinement. “

And after this date, what will happen? “To imagine that the measures of hygiene and social distancing will stop would be a mistake, insists Jean-Jacques Coiplet, the director of the ARS. Discipline and patience will be necessary, because the deconfinement will be done gradually, neither too fast nor too strong. »Asked by 20 minutes on the one-time option of a
deconfinement by region, the ARS is cautious. ” It is too early to tell. What is certain is that if there are still waves of cases in intensive care units, we will not give the start. The conditions must be met. “
