The Spaniard spent most of his career, or 16 years, in his native grand Madrid “Real”, in whose ranks a total of 725 games took place on the pitch.

Earlier this year, Cassillas announced that he was putting an end to the player’s career as he decided to run for president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). In June, the goalkeeper issued a statement stating that he was withdrawing his candidacy.

Casillas suffered a heart attack in one of the club’s trainings last May, and he has not gone to the field since then.

The Spaniard extended his contract with the Porto club last March, but the unit became Portuguese vice-champion in the spring. Cassillas has been representing this team since 2015, when he left the Spanish grand Real Madrid.

Last year, together with the “Porto” team, Cassillas became the Portuguese champion.

With 167 games for the Spanish national team, the goalkeeper is a national team record holder in terms of matches played.

Cassley was the captain of the Spanish national team at the 2010 World Cup when his national team triumphed in the tournament. He played the last match in the national team in 2016, also winning the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

In the UEFA Champions League, Casillas won with the “Real” team three times, and he is also a five-time Spanish champion.
