Update Düsseldorf The Corona emergency brake applies in 43 districts and independent cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. Stricter contact rules also apply in Krefeld and Wuppertal.
The Corona emergency brake currently applies in 43 districts and cities (out of 53) in North Rhine-Westphalia. The NRW Ministry of Health ordered this at the end of March.
The regions affected include Cologne, Dortmund, the Aachen city region, the Mettmann district and the Siegen-Wittgenstein district. First, the seven-day incidence had to be below the 100 mark for at least three consecutive days.
On April 7, the rule for lifting the corona emergency brake was tightened. Now, the affected municipalities must be “at least seven days in a row with a stable trend below the value of 100”, says a new version of the Corona Protection Ordinance. The tightening was justified, among other things, with “limited” tests and case reports over the Easter days.
Only in municipalities with a weekly incidence of more than 100 shops, sports facilities and cultural institutions have to close. The affected districts and urban districts may, however, allow exceptions for people with a daily negative quick test or self-test. However, these exceptional options must be coordinated with the Ministry of Health beforehand.
The contact rules are tightened in all Corona hotspots in North Rhine-Westphalia
For all citizens in the hotspots with a corona value above 100, the sharper Contact rules – at least until Easter. After that, meetings in public spaces are limited to just one household with one other person. The gastronomy remains closed nationwide. The number of people who are allowed to come together in public space also remains limited.
