The EFS warns of the need for blood bags before the summer holidays

The French Blood Establishment in France has issued an alert recalling the historically low level of blood reserves in France. The EFS Guadeloupe Guyane takes the opportunity to remind the population that the archipelago must find a sufficient level of stock to reduce imports of blood bags from France.

The French Blood Establishment (EFS) in France has published an emergency bulletin for the second time in its history. The level of blood reserves in mainland France is historically low, a critical situation on the eve of vacation departures, which could prove dangerous in the short term for Guadeloupe to treat patients.

Through this new alert, the EFS Guadeloupe-Guyane encourages all donors to a massive mobilization in the next 10 days by going to the various collection sites to donate their blood.
The mobilization of donors over the past ten days, as part of the campaign for World Blood Donor Day, has not been enough.

40 bags needed daily

EFS Guadeloupe Guyane must find a sufficient level of stock to reduce imports of blood bags from France.
Last week, the average number of bags of whole blood collected daily was 20, while 40 would be needed to meet the needs of patients in the Guadeloupe archipelago and the northern islands.
