The dollar regains some ground against the euro after a difficult month

Around 8:30 p.m., the euro fell 0.22% against the greenback, to $ 1.1752

The euro continued to decline on Monday against a dollar which was regaining, at least temporarily, a little ground after a month under pressure marked by a resurgence of the pandemic in the United States.

Around 6:30 p.m. GMT (8:30 p.m. in Paris), the euro fell 0.22% against the greenback, to $ 1.1752. On Friday, he had already lost 0.59%.

“The pause in the greenback’s decline is due to technical factors rather than a change in circumstances that have led to the sharp decline in recent weeks,” said Ricardo Evangelista, analyst for ActivTrades.

The dollar index, which measures the value of the greenback against a basket of other currencies, experienced its worst month since September 2010 in July, falling 4.15%.

It rose 0.25% on Monday.

“Low interest rates remain the biggest barrier to the dollar attracting capital, with the ten-year bond yield currently nearing 0.5% and the real yield at around -0.1% if we subtract inflation, ”explained Hussein Sayed, analyst for FXTM.
