Now that the National Crisis Center is no longer coordinating the water disaster in Wallonia, crisis management has been transferred to the provincial governors of Liège, Namur and Luxembourg. In the meantime, the Walloon government has also set up a Special Commission for Reconstruction. But whether the approach to the flooding will go smoothly as a result remains to be seen. “Everyone is doing what they can, but it was all too late. There is a total lack of coordination,” says crisis management expert Hugo Marynissen, professor at the Antwerp Management School.
