Last summer it was announced that there would be a sequel to the famous musical film Dirty Dancing. Director Jonathan Levine, known from 50/50 in Long Shot, will cann the movie. Jennifer Grey returns as Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman. She spoke about the sequel in a recent interview. The biggest question, of course, is what they are up to with the character of Patrick Swayze. He played the dance teacher Johnny Castle and the love of Baby. However, the actor died in 2009 but will not be re-cast. Gray now lets you know: ”It is impossible to replace someone who has died. Nor should we try to redo something magical like Dirty Dancing. We will go in a different direction”.

Worth the effort
It is not surprising that, despite Swayze’s death, there will be a sequel. The 1987 original did a great job. The film cost ‘only’ $ 6 million to make and raised no less than $ 218 million worldwide. Dirty Dancing also won an Oscar and a Golden Globe

The CEO of Lionsgate has high expectations for the sequel: ”I can promise you that it will be a romantic and nostalgic film that the Dirty Dancing fans are all waiting for and will be surprised by!
